Australia overcomes South Africa 38-22
Rugby Championship 2025: Australia topple South Africa in Johannesburg
The South African world champions experienced a nightmare at Ellis Park. Quickly ahead thanks to tries from Arendse, Esterhuizen and Kolisi, the Springboks led 22-0 after just 18 minutes. But their domination came to an abrupt halt.
The Wallabies, initially timid, turned the match around with six tries, signed by Pietsch, Wilson (double), Sua'ali'i, Jorgenson and Wright. Buoyed by their intensity and realism, they won 38-22, pocketing the offensive bonus.
Unbeaten for eleven months, the Springboks see their streak brought to a screeching halt, while Joe Schmidt's Australia send out a strong message at the opening of the Rugby Championship 2025.
